Convention Co-dependency Cookies
I feel like Dean would approve of these soft centred, American-style cookies, even if he might resent the implication slightly – we couldn’t possibly do separate bakes for the Winchester boys! It had to be something yin and yang, heaven and hell, chocolate and vanilla… cripplingly co-dependent in every way, absolutely inextricable and all the yummier for it. So especially for Asylum we created these half-and-half Sam-and-Dean cookies, with chunks of delicious chocolate chip angst and enough sugar to power you through those hungover Sunday morning panels. Easier than they look too, you can totally make these in a pre-con flap while catching up on episodes, with Sam-feelings impairing your judgement. *cough*
Ingredients (this made about two dozen small cookies)
- 125g butter (softened)
- 50g brown sugar
- 100g caster sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 150g plain flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- Bag of chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- Preheat the oven to 350°F, 180°C or gas mark 4.
- Cream the butter and sugars.
- Beat the egg and vanilla together then add that.
- Sift the flour into the mix, and add the baking powder.
- Put half of the mix into another bowl and beat into a smooth dough.
- Add the cocoa powder to the other half and beat that to the same consistency.
- Add the chocolate chips to both mixtures, half and half.
- This is the fun bit – take a pinch of each flavour dough and smoosh it together into a little ball, rolling it around in your palms til it’s even. Lather, rinse, repeat til you’re out of either chocolate or vanilla. Then pop them on a greaseproof paper lined tray, making sure to space them generously, and stick them in the oven.
- Bake for fifteen minutes or so. Eat the leftover cookie dough while you wait.
- Take out of the oven and leave to cool, while you run round the house panicking that Rogue haven’t sent you half your paperwork. Seriously, give them time to cool properly because if you try to pick one up too early the soft middle kind of stays on the sheet in a gunky, chocolatey mess. Hmm.
- Eat one just to test, then pack them up carefully – cookies are hardier than cakes, and less likely to leave a crumby mess over your Impala, but it’s a bumpy ride to Birmingham!

Tried to make pancakes~ish things.
Y’know, sorta pancakes but more like crepes since that’t the Finnish thing.
Either
- the amount of eggs (just one) wasn’t enough
- the amount of sugar was too much or
- whole-grain wheat flour is not really a flour for this thing.
I couldn’t flip them over at all, just had to scrape them off. Got bored of that so I just put the rest of the mix in a dish and through it in the oven.
Also, the egg was one of those I used for the chocolate cake and it refused to be mixed properly so the first thingy had fried egg in the middle…
